The AlamodomeThe Alamodome is a major arena and convention center near the heart of downtown San Antonio, just off Interstate 37. The building hosts major sporting events, concerts, convention centers and trade shows each year and seats up to 72,000 people.

Built primarily to accommodate NFL football games, The Alamodome also attracts huge concert acts like Paul McCartney, Britney Spears, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones. The Dallas Cowboys also hold their summer training camp here, with practices open to the public.

The NBA Championship San Antonio Spurs played at The Alamodome for nearly a decade, and the building now hosts football events like the Alamo Bowl, NFL exhibition games and the Texas Football Classic. Currently, the University of Texas at San Antonio football team calls The Alamodome their home stadium.

The uniqueness of The Alamodome lies in its column-free design that offers unobstructed views. The flexibility of expanding seats means the arena can be configured into one of 24 possible setups. Two permanent Olympic-sized ice rinks below the floor surface are groomed to accommodate figure skating, speed skating and NHL hockey.

The Alamodome opened in 1993 at a cost of $186 million and includes 38 luxury suites, 6,000 club level seats, a Sports Club and Top of the Dome restaurant.

With 425 video monitors and 91 camera locations during major events, fans will never miss a moment of the action if they leave their seats for the restroom or one of 24 permanent concession stands.
